The San Diego Chargers was founded in 1960, as one of the charter members of the American Football League. They played their first season as the Los Angeles Chargers and relocated to San Diego the next year. The team got their nickname in a contest sponsored by Barron Hilton, the team owner. It is rumored that Hilton chose the nickname because he liked the bugle cry, 'Charge!' that was played at USC games and at the Dodgers Stadium. They have played at the Qualcomm Stadium, formerly San Diego Stadium since 1967.
The Chargers have won the 1963 AFL Championships and has 1 AFC Conference championship and 15 Division championships.
