The Chicago Bears were founded in 1919 as the Decatur Staleys in Decatur, Illinois. They began playing as the AE Staley company team. They became an NFL charter member in 1920 and became the Chicago Staleys after relocating in 1921 to Chicago. They changed their nickname to Chicago Bears after rights to the club was purchased for $100. The team has one of the most talked-about rivalries in professional football, often clashing against the Green Bay Packers for supremacy. Da Bears have since won 9 League championships, including the 1985 Super Bowl. They have also clinched 4 Conference championships and 17 Division championships. They have made 15 playoff appearances.

Famed architect Mies van der Rohe has also left his mark here, designing the 860-880 Lake Shore Drive Apartments.
