The Arkansas Razorbacks play in the Division I of the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference, representing the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville. They are named after the feral, take-no-prisoners Razorback pig. The name was born in 1909 when football coach Hugo Bezdek declared that the team played strongly, similar to a 'wild band of razorback pigs'. The name fired up the imagination of students and fans and has been used since. Their mascot is the Razorback hog and the team, who wears the cardinal red Arkansas Razorbacks jerseys, are alternately known as the Hogs. Fans of the Razorbacks are well-known for the famous, 'Woo! Pig, Sooie!' yell. Today, the running Razorback is the team's famous logo. The squad is currently made up of 19 varsity teams, with a strong showing in intercollegiate football, men's basketball and baseball. Their mascot is Boss Hog while Tusk the boar makes live appearances from time to time, wearing the team's famous NCAA jerseys.
The Razorbacks hold court in Fayetteville, also affectionately called the Track Capital of the World. This is in honor of the strong track & field performance of the University of Arkansas, whose team has clinched 42 national championships so far. Fayetteville holds an extended farmer's market, which runs from April to November each year. It is also home to several famous landmarks, including the Fayetteville Public Library, the Walton Arts Center and the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks. Former Pres. Bill Clinton and former First Lady Hillary Clinton were once residents of the city.
