The Xavier Musketeers represent Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. The team plays in the Division I of the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 Conference wearing navy blue and white NCAA jerseys. The Musketeers were named after an idea suggested by Rev. Francis Finn, SJ in 1925 which involved using the concept of the Musketeer as a team name. The official mascot of the squad is D'Artagnan, easily the most famous of the Musketeers in the novel by Alexandre Dumas. D'Artagnan the mascot is also accompanied by another mascot, the blue and furry Blue Blob. The Xavier Musketeers has enjoyed success with their men's basketball team, entering the NCAA Elite Eight in 2004 and again in 2008. The squad also competes in golf, volleyball, soccer, tennis, track and field and swimming.
