Learn more about the Warriors:
Oakland is filled with Golden State Warriors jerseys on game day, so don't be surprised if you keep on seeing the jerseys pop up! The Golden State Warriors play under the NBA's Western Conference, as part of the Pacific Division. They were first established as the Philadelphia Warriors back in 1946, where they played in Pennsylvania and won the championship of the very first season of the Basketball Association of America – which eventually also became the National Basketball Association, or the NBA.
When 1962 rolled around, the Warriors marched from the middle of the country to the coast, in San Francisco, California, where they played as the San Francisco Warriors until 1971. They finally changed their name to the Golden State Warriors, and today play their home games in Oracle Arena. They rank 5th in the NBA among teams with the most championships won.
Oakland really does earn its name from its rich timber resources. Today, Oakland is one of the United States' most ethnically diverse cities. With ports, the ocean, and a lot of different cultures put together, you can find a lot to do and see in this city of the Warriors.
