Learn More About the Wolves:
The Target Center is where this team makes their home, and you can find a whole lot of Minnesota Timberwolves jerseys filling the stands during a home game. The Timberwolves, or the T-wolves, as they are often called, are based in Minneapolis, where they play under the Northwest Division of the NBA's Western Conference. The team was first established as an expansion team in 1989, and while they struggled to capture titles and triumphs in their first few years, they subsequently found success as they drafted good players. They won their first division title in 2004 and were able to move on to the Western Conference finals.
There was a contest to name the team when it was first formed. The last two names were the Minneapolis Polars and the Minneapolis Timberwolves. The latter was eventually picked, and is perhaps rightly so in tribute to its home state. Minnesota houses the largest population of timberwolves in the continental, lower 48 United States.
