Learn More About the Kings:
Make sure you tour this part of California, as you purchase your Sacramento Kings Jerseys. With its temperate weather, lush countryside, and varied vistas – from sea to mountains, oceans to lakes! - you'll find that the Sacramento Kings do make their home in a place that treats them like royalty.
The Sacramento Kings are members of the Western Conference, and play in the Power Balance Pavilion for their home games. However, the Kings didn't start in the West Coast. In fact, they began in the early 1920's in Rochester, New York, as a local, semi-professional team. The Kings are actually one of the oldest basketball clubs that are still standing (and playing). They joined the National Basketball League as the Rochester royals in 1945, but left the league and joined the Basketball Association of America, the League's biggest rival, in 1948. The next year, the rivals merged, and the Royals became members of the newly-formed NBA.
Although the Royals scored well on the court, they didn't make as much profit in their small town. They moved to Ohio in 1957 and became the Cincinnati Royals. They then moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1972, this time as the Kansas City Kings. Finally, after failing to successfully win over a market, the team moved to Sacramento and became the Sacramento Kings in 1985.
