The Trail Blazers have been based and played in Portland from its birth to today. The franchise began in 1970, as the only major league team in Oregon for any sport – until Major League Soccer gave birth to the Portland Timbers in 2011. The Trail Blazers franchise have a strong following: many of their games have been sold out, and they hold the record for the longest streak of sold out home games (from 1977 to 1995!). When the Seattle SuperSonics left for Oklahoma City, and the Vancouver Grizzlies went off to Memphis, the Trail Blazers were left as the only NBA team in the Pacific Northwest.
